If I use it in any other mode (DNLA player, Netflix etc) and then return to the home menu, it's not visible on the network as a DMR without a power cycle. I also find the Oppo only presents itself as a DMR on the network when it is first powered up. ALTERNATIVE TO SMBUP INSTALL Here we go some list of an alternative/related app that you must try to install into your lovely MAC OSXile and print server for SMB and CIFS clients. If I power off the Oppo and restart it's immediately reliable again for a period of time? ALTERNATIVE TO SMBUP FOR MAC ALTERNATIVE TO SMBUP MAC OS ALTERNATIVE TO SMBUP INSTALL Reinstate and manage Samba on OS X 10.7 Lion. Any clues?Īlso, with the Plex Media Server I am having unreliable access from the Oppo, typically the plex server is visible in Network, but when browsing folders I am regularly sent back to the root of the Network selection page, meaning I have to drill in all over again. Plex client can play them on the iMac without issue. However, using Plex Media Server on the iMac pointed to this same library refuses to play the content stating invalid format via Plex. I have a movie collection on my NAS in MP4 (.m4v) form, which when I browse to from the Oppo, plays without issue. I have tested this Mac OS X SMB Fix under Yosemite 10.10. Interestingly, the same library delivered by a DNLA server is ordered correctly in the Oppo, so it's purely with it's SMB share implementation that this information is jumbled.Īnother query I have. SMBUp is a free application that replaces the Apple SMB implementation with the Open Source Samba version. I think the SMB share jumbling of file order has been reported previously and also to Oppo, I don't believe a fix has been issued since. If I could do this, coupled with an iOS app to control the Twonky content and the player it's being sent to then that would be, is this what you achieved with your WD Twonky Server / Bubble UPNP setup? Were you actually able to select music to play on the Nexus 7 and direct it to be played on the Oppo? I was hoping that it would appear as a player in the Twonky manage so that I can push content to it? However, this dis-appears again before I can get to the point of trying to send anything to it. When the Oppo shows up, I allow it to connect for sharing. In the settings, under receivers, various network devices appear (namely the Oppo and a Windows laptop) but this is quite sporadic. I see in Twonky on the Mac I can drag content to players that are listed on the right hand side (only one showing at the moment is the local player on the iMac). I've put Twonky on my iMac, which easily shares all the iTunes content without having to browse through too many folders on my NAS and also overcomes the SMB issue connecting directly from the Oppo to the Mac (which doesn't work).īut I was still hoping to try and push content to the Oppo.
